Hi.
I have the funds to get me to Oz and enough for a week or
two's cheap living, But I'm looking for work which can fund
me staying there between July and The end of September. I'm
aware that its the winter there now and so the toursist
trade will be a bit slack.
How likely is it that i can find work that will pay me
enough to live day to day and maybe have enough to travel
for a couple of weeks before going home??
I dont care really which for the work takes , I work hard
and i'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. But I have
particular skills/experience in IT, management or
retailing...with a little accounting knowlege.
Any advicewould be great.
Thanks
Kirstie.

Try the ski resorts. In Victoria at least, there is Mt. Hotham, Mt. Buller and Falls Creek - these are the larger resorts so would offer a greater chance of work. There are also quite a few other smaller resorts. They always need lift attendants, bar and waiting staff and who knows what else. Try contacting the Victorian Tourism Commission for contact details.
Generally you should have no problems getting a job in
Sydney with your skills. There is plenty of work here in
those fields. Have a look at the local paper www.smh.com.au
and check out jobs under the 'classified'section.
Good Luck and enjoy it...
I'm sure you'll have no problems at all if you fancy working in Sydney. I worked there from the end of June until mid December last year with no problems at all finding work. If you have proven IT skills then even better Sydney is crying out for programmers etc. and pay top dollar. Alternitively just sign up with a couple of temp agencies. I would recommend Alectus, Reed, Drake & Hays for starters.
The only time I found it difficult to find work was January but the weather was lush so I didn't really mind. Have a great time. Pablo
