Gidday,
During my recent trip down under, I had this opportunity
to visit York in Western Australia.
This tiny little village is oganised on its main street
(Avon Terrace) and the visit of a couple of pleasant museum
will tell how tough a pioneer's life was. The Balladong
Farm that is announced to be one of the very first farm in
the country will propose to discover the pioneer's life
through a small movie, and its actual state may let one
imagine how people had to put up with no real facilities.
The Gaol and Courthouse museum will tell the story of
the ancestors of the boys and girls in blue in the country,
how convicts were held in prison, and a very interesting
sight of a pioneer's house is presented: life is something
hard without electricity of fresh water ...
All the previous is explained in LP over Western Australia.
Now comes the new bit.
On the way to York coming from Perth, in the middle
of the journey, alongside the road, one will find a very
pleasant tree root that people keep decorated with many
colours and that is known as 'Fred'. Fred is every now and
then re-painted when colours wash off or when other people
will have changed its design. Sometimes the root (1m50 high)
is even disguised for special celebration days. And the
people I met told me it was a funny attraction, that no
one knows who takes care of, but there it goes.
That's all folks and mistery from magic Oz.
Have a good day mate,
Marc, Belgium.
