Does anybody know anything about the following resorts in
Rarotonga? I cannot decide which one to stay at...
Club Rio, Edgewater Resort, Manuia Beach, Moana Sands,
Pacific Resort or The Rarotongan Beach Resort.
(PS this is for our honeymoon - so luxury and a great view
is the key)
THANKS!!

  1. I remember when... Added by: BillyK (wkunz@erols.com)

I traveled thru Raro back in '97. We stayed at a hostel
called the Are Mango. As far as resorts go, we snuck into
the Edgewater for some drinks and a dip in the pool. It's
really nice and there's a lot of activity. It's not exactly
on the best beach. Muir (I think the name is slightly wrong)
is the best beach and it's not too far from the Edgewater.
Actually, nothing is that far away. Hope this helps.

  2. raro digs Added by: laura (toddl1@cws.state.ca.us)

i was there august 98. the pacific resort ( if these are
the condos at the very north end of muri beach as i'm
remembering) has great views of the motus on the east side
of the island BUT swimming/snorkeling not possible off their
beach. the edgewater has a pretty view with good sunsets
and lots of amenities BUT is basically scaled up cement
block buildings and is full of package tour folks (often
groups of 50+ age set). you mean club RARO, which has good
views on north side of island and can be great for whale
watching, BUT a little (a lot) downscale for a honeymoon.
Don't know anything about the raro beach resort. SO.... i
would choose either the moana or manuia beach, which, as i
recall, are both on the south side with great swimming and
beaches and are small and upscale.

    Dear Billyk
I am an Aussie Travel Agent, saw your question and happy to
    advise
The rarotongan - on 6 acres of beach frontage in landscape
tropical gardens - 20 minutes from town
Edgewater resort - On the waters edge , the Cook Islands
largest resort just 10 minutes drive from town and in
walking distance of several good quality restaurants.
Pacific Resort - On mUri Beach overlooking a lagoon ringed
by small tropical islands - 20 minutes from town
These three are probably the highest ranked properties but
be aware there are no 5 star properties in the Cook Islands.
Hope that gets your married life to a sweet start.

  4. Aitutaki Added by: Stephen

Check out the Aitutaki Resort on Aitutaki Island.
Buautiful situation. About 40 minutes by plane from
Rarotonga. I didn't stay there (I was hosteling )but it
would be my first choice, hands down. On Rarotonga, Muri
beach is the best for swimming--but it's not really that
great. The Rarotongan Resort would be my choice. Forget
    the Edgewater.

    Hi,
if you have enaugh money than try AITUTAKI.
    it`s a must for your honeymoon !!!
You have great beaches. Their are not a lot of hotels. i
cant remember the name of the very luxery one. i stayed in
a budget accomadation on a nice white beach.
if you like a luxery und nice hotel you should prefer the
raratongan resort; the beach is o.k. and the have good food
und a very nice floorshow.it should be the best hotel on
    the island.
Edgewater hotel is closer to avarua-town an has also a nice
beach und a good pool, but the other one is better.
club raro is chaper, but also o.k. i
