Is it true that you don't need to have a return flight when
going to Australia for a working holiday? I want to stay in
Australia for a full year and can't get a return flight so
far in advance.
Cheers.

I applied for my working holiday visa and I was told that if
you don't show a return ticket when you go through customs
you might have to show enough funds to buy a ticket out. I
also heard through "thorn tree" that some customs into Oz
ask for the return ticket. I would confirm with Oz
immigration. Best of luck.
I entered Oz on a one way ticket. I had a statement
from my bank showing i had sufficient funds to buy an
onward ticket but immigration never asked for my ticket or
evidence of funds. That was last June.
I can only answer a small technical point
What you say is ALMOST correct. Airlines can only book up
to 11 months ahead of the date they enter the booking or
issue the ticket which ever is the later.
What you need to do is get them to issue the ticket as late
as possible to maximise the date and/or make sure you are
able to change the date up to a year from the date of your
departure.
Simple isn't it - next lesson is in advanced brain surgery
