Hi,
Me and a friend of mine want to spent some months on a
desert island, anywhere if it is tropical. Back to nature a
la "Blue Lagoon". Can anybody please help us find this
oppertunity? Did any of you find a place where this is
possible while travelling? Any ideas or suggestions are more
than welcome, as we really need to do this. Thanks a lot,
Ilse.

Go to the Solomon Islands......especially the Morovo
Lagoon. It's a really cool place; you can have your own
leaf hut in very, very rustic surroundings for reaonable
cost. A lot of the people there are environmentally aware
and responsible, and your support and interest matters.
Check out the L.P. book. It's bang on and reliable.

Try the many small island of Thailand, Phuket and
surrounding areas. Cheap, heaps of small island to choose
from, varied accomodation styles and extremely beautiful.

Special, cristal clear water, incredbly sunsets and desert - take a sail boat and go over South Pacific - start in Marquesas Islands (Ua Pou, Ua Uka, Hiva Oa or Nuku Iva); then, Pitcairn, French Polynesia (Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine), Tonga (Nukualofa), Fiji - you can sail in complete desert anchorages.

...rumour has it that Blue Lagoon was filmed near Ixtapa,
Mexico. If you fly into Acapulco, rent a car and drive
north towards Zijuatanejo. You will see on the Pacific
Coast more beautiful, secluded, long sandy sweeping beaches
than you can shake a stick at. Lots of palm tree farms but
lots of places to get to the water. It is truly awesome.
(And cheap!) Just stock up on goodies to take. Although
there are lots of little towns alond the 150 mile drive.
I'm going back again and again.

You want secluded beaches? You want to see rich marine life? You want to see blue lagoons? If your answers to these questions are yes, then Palawan in the Philippines is the place for you and your companion. Amanpulo Island and El Nido are the most popular places in Palawan. You may visit these websites: http://www.tourism.gov.ph
    http://www.lakbay.net.ph and http://www.palawan.com
You'll never regret going to these places. Other enchanting islands are the Guimaras Island, Camiguin Island and the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao. These places can be seen through the websites I mentioned.
