Lonely Planet: Veg out
Vegetarians pig out too! Amongst the huge and exotic, but overwhelmingly fishy and meaty, array of cuisines available in Malaysia, vegetarians will thank their lord for south Indian rice plates. Vegie restaurants serve the dish on a huge banana leaf (don't try to eat the plate!). A huge mound of rice hides beneath a variety of vegetable curries. A couple of papadams top off the dish.

Now for the fun bit. South Indian cuisine is never eaten with Western-style utensils. Instead, use your right hand (never your left!) to knead the curries into the rice and start eating. When your banana leaf starts to become visible, you'll suddenly find it refilled - the rice plate is always an 'as much as you can eat' meal. If you've had enough, fold the banana leaf in two, with the fold towards you. This indicates that your stomach is about to burst.
