Land of the free, home of the depraved

American politicians are fond of invoking the Founding Fathers as upstanding examples of conventional Christian decency and morality. Hardly. Most of the Founding Fathers led lives that would make Richard Nixon blush. Ben Franklin was fond of 'rogering' as many women as he could get his hands on and wrote several essays of questionable taste, including the classic, "Fart Proudly." Visitors to Thomas Jefferson's plantation often commented on the red-haired children of one of Jefferson's slaves.
Even George Washington, the first president and hero of the revolution, had his flaws.
He hated his mother.
