Here's Looking at you Bog-Eyes

Bog-eyes (shingleback lizards) are slow-moving, stumpy critters that love to lie in the middle of NSW's outback roads. They're so ugly they're cute. When approached, the lizard will open its mouth and show its blue tongue and crimson gullet. If you poke a finger too close, it might get chomped. Bog-eyes aren't poisonous, but they have a very strong grip. Locals kill the lizards to get them off, but National Parks advises resting your hand on the ground and hoping that the lizard will eventually get bored and let go. It can take a while...
as a four-fingered bloke once told me.
