Open-PGP BOF (openpgp) Tuesday, August 12 at 0900-1115 =============================== Chair: Charles Breed DESCRIPTION: PGP has become a very popular method for establishing trust between internet users for securing communications. In order to grow the installed-base of over 4 million users, the 'pgp-protocol' can be extended to support new features such as, 1. additional certificate types that are being proposed for various public key infrastructures (X.509v3, SPKI-SDSI) 2. new cipher suites (elliptic curve, other symmetric ciphers) and cipher identifiers 3. enhanced methods for public pgp key / certificate exchange (search, retrieval, revocation) I'd like to explore the level of interest by conducting "market research" and technical "brainstorming" on this topic. An open email list for this BOF is located at http://www.imc.org/ietf-open-pgp/ hosted by Internet Mail Consortium, Paul Hoffman AGENDA: 1. attendees sign-in on roster 2. Review current Internet-Draft of pgp5.0 3. Explain motivation for BOF 4. Go through list of possible extensions / additions 5. Brainstorm new changes, additions, modifications 6. Measure level of interest in forming a WG
