The Hanover Hackers used their time inside the systems to collect information, read files, even insert programs. During this plundering, they gained privileges that allowed them to copy, modify, write, and destroy information.

Please note that this was a number of years ago -- how much more sophisticated are today's hackers? How has our ability to defend ourselves evolved since then? How has domestic and international law changed or emerged to meet this threat?
