Zip 21 is another game for all of you folks that love BlackJack! In this game you create columns of cards that total 21. Your score is based on the number of 21 card combinations you can create within a preset time period. The more 21 combinations you create, the higher your bonus!

Zip 21 Requirements

To run Zip 21 you need:

          Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51 (service pack 5)  or above

          Mouse or other pointing device

          Recommended: Soundcard

Zip 21 Installation

Download the self extracting executable Zip21.Exe (1.93 Mb) from the link above. Once the download is complete, run the EXE to unzip the Zip21 setup files (by default they will be placed into the folder C:\Zip 21 Setup). Running Setup.Exe will install Zip 21 onto your system. If you ever need to remove Zip 21, you may do so from the Window's Control Panel by selecting the Add/Remove Programs Icon.

Zip 21 Rules, Notes and Strategy

As with most games, the object of Zip 21 is to attain the highest number of points possible. The game consists of three rounds, each lasting 90 seconds. If you earn more than 250,000 points in these rounds you are awarded an additional bonus round.

You earn points by creating cards combinations that total 21. Each card is worth it's face value (face cards are 10 points each, Aces are worth 1 or 11 points). If any column exceeds 21 points (ie: busted), your score is reduced by 100 points. At the end of each round, the total number of 21 combinations that you created is multiplied by the 21 Bonus Value. The 21 Bonus Value increases by 1,000 each time a 21 combination is created. The 21 Bonus Value is reset to 1,000 if the '21 Counter' (a timer) expires. The '21 Counter' is reset each time a 21 combination is created. The '21 Counter' is set for approxiametly 10 seconds. Once you create your first 21 combination, you must create another one before the '21 Counter' expires or your 21 Bonus Value is reset to 1,000.

You also earn points by creating columns of 5 cards that do not exceed 21 (called a 'five card gimme'). Each time a column of this type is created you are awarded 750 points. Each time you create a 21 card combination or a 'five card gimme' the column is automatically cleared. If you are able to use all the cards in the deck you are awarded an additional 100,000 points. At the end of each round you are also awarded 100 points for each card you used during the round.

If you are running a registered version of Zip 21 you may modify all of the scoring values such as the points required to achieve a bonus round, points awarded for completing the deck, the 21 Bonus Value and the 'five card gimme' bonus. The registered version also gives you many other features as well including the ability to view and clear the high score tables and modify the amount of time allowed in each round. See the 'How to register' command under the help menu for more information.
