Description

This program allows you to rename a file's extension (file type) even if file extensions are hidden, and without displaying any warning messages.

Instructions

To install: Extract the zip file's contents into a temporary directory, then double-click the SETUP.EXE file.

To uninstall: You can uninstall ChangeType using the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in Control Panel.

To use: Right-click any file, and select "Change Type".

Warning

A file's extension identifies its type. If you change the type, it may no longer be possible to open it by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer. You should only change the extension if you know what you're doing.

Known issues

• Due to a bug in Microsoft Office 95's shortcut bar, if ChangeType is installed, the shortcut bar will run ChangeType instead of executing the programs in its shortcut bar.
