Dream Home Design - Case Study2
Company: J.S. Building Consultancy

Featured in Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine - Dream Home Challenge series.

The brief asked for a building of render with some brick and timber that would not be out of character with the 14th century house opposite. I have used these materials throughout, and small clay tiles for the roof that incorporates eyebrow windows to further enhance interest to the south facing faade. To the rear of the building, French windows open out from both the lounge and the dining room/ kitchen onto the enclosed patio with a step down to the garden. Facing out on to the rear garden is a large, full height arched window going right up to the vaulted ceiling over the gallery giving plenty of light to the lobby. The lobby has a large central staircase and tucked out of the way underneath this is a cloakroom and toilet.

The master bedroom has a large window and French door opening onto a balcony, whilst the en suite has a large shower/wet area. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a bathroom, whilst bedrooms 4 and 5 have use of the WC and shower room. All windows are double glazed, but leaded to be in keeping with the older architecture. An open fire in the spacious lounge gives that extra feeling of cosiness.
