John Sharples design was praised for its use of space, and the light airy feel created through extensive glazing.

As the buildings are listed there will be restrictions as to what can be done with regards to altering the external appearance. The emphasis is on retaining the pantiled roof and brick structure at the same time as providing a home that is functional and easy to live in. The ceilings have exposed timber beams and the ground floor has exposed flagstones and underfloor heating.

Externally the stable doors have been retained as a feature that could be used as shutters over the windows and door. In order to maximise light entering the building, the double glazed tilt and turn timber windows and kitchen door fill the openings to ground level giving the appearance of an open stable door.

The small opening on the east gable wall of the barn has been enlarged to form a window for the master bedroom. Sun pipes in the roof, as planning restrictions will not permit windows overlooking the neighbouring property, provide light for landing and a bathroom.

The lounge is cosy with the fireplace set on a semicircular raised hearth. As requested, the dining room is separate from the kitchen, giving a large dining area adjoining the living room.
