Fireplace Designs from the Brick Centre
Company: Brick Centre

With 60 metric bricks per m2 , 100 bricks goes along way towards building a fireplace. Our brochure contains some design ideas and we've plenty of fireplaces in our showroom. You can also see some of our fireplace designs or search through many of the 150 colours we stock by using the "find" facility on our website at: www.brickcentre.co.uk.

50mm (2") high handmade bricks and even "minature" briquettes are also in stock & popular for fireplaces as they are like "scaled down" house bricks - & good for feature work.

From stock - you can purchase any number of bricks. On average - we find that a main surround usually takes around 100 bricks, each side about 50 & a chimney breast (from above central area) about 150 - 200 bricks - depending on the size of the room etc!

To get a better idea how many you may need - remember that for a standard metric brick - approx 65mm x 215mm x 102.5mm - laid with a standard 10mm joint - you need about 60 bricks per square metre (single brickwork).

Quarry tiles are very traditional for brick fireplaces. We've got square edges and round edged ones to give a nice finish at the front of a hearth or mantle.
