Safe power is as important in the garden as in the house.  Increasing use of electric power tools, garden equipment, pond pumps and security lighting necessitates the installation of IP rated sockets & switches in garages and on outside walls.  These accessories are now as important a garden item as the outside tap.  IP stands for "ingress protection" against damp and/or dusty conditions.  There are various levels of protection, the most widely used being IP55 with a soft protective membrane covering the inserts.
