Invisible Installation of STARR

Basically there a two scenarios where an invisible deployment of STARR is used:

  1. Surveillance of a stand-alone PC, which means that one PC is both the Client and Administrator PC at the same time. This is the typical scenario when STARR is used on a family PC for parental control.

  2. Surveillance across a PC network (the "Client PCs") from an administrators PC. This is the typical scenario in a business, university or school environment [only PRO Version].

The STARR installation wizard automatically creates an invisible installation for you. Simply select the appropriate option during the installation. Remember, if you installed STARR invisible there is NO menu entry to start the STARR Commander. Instead, type "starrcmd" in the RUN menu. For added security you can also rename the starrcmd.exe file and/or password-protected the STARR Commander. For more information, go to the Settings section of this manual.

In addition to the automatic invisible installation, system administrators can further customize the installation of STARR PRO to suit their needs, for example files can be manually installed and renamed and/or the installation can by automated using the STARR Remote Deployment.

To start the STARR Commander type "starrcmd" in the windows RUN box (see screenshot). The RUN field is automatically cleared once you log off or the PC is shut down (It is not immediately cleared).
