Mid Showa Period (following WWII)
It is said that the nobility in the old court of Kyoto were able to view from the Imperial Palace the reflection in the Kamo River of the Daimonji characters burning on the hillsides. The Daimonji fires are a ritual to send off the spirits of the dead and lament at the passing of summer.
Nyoi no Tsuki

chushu Mid-autumn moon viewing. Floating in a boat on Osawa Lake, at Saga's Daikakuji Temple, enjoying the splendor of the full moon while enjoying a poetry reading.
