Michael Holmboe Meyer was born in Stavanger, Norway. At 15 he had his own school in typewriting. Then after working a few years in Stavanger electricwork (Stavanger Energi), he started to study law, then quit lawschool and became a local taxi driver. When he was twenty-nine, he `ran to Jezreel Valley in Galilee and began to work in a bakery in Nazareth. After spending a few years in the place that produced the religion`s greatest mystics, he went back to Norway. Once more he became a local taxidriver.

On January 17, 1992 , he received an award for bravery from the Norwegian Carnegie Hero Fundation (Carnegies Heltefond for Norge), based on the same principles as in the USA that honors civilians who have shown unusual bravery by putting their own life at risk in rescuing others.

In 1995 Michael Holmboe Meyer took the initiative by planting a Memorial Forest near Beersheba in the Negev desert. Ten thousand trees are growing as a reminder of the noted Henrik Arnold Wergeland (1808-1845) considered by some the Norwegian national poet, who enthralled his countrymen with e.g. his monumental poem, Skabelsen, Mennesket, og Messias (Creation, Man and Messiah, 1830). Henrik Wergeland fought many gallant battles in respect for dignity and rights of every human being.

While the Henrik Wergeland Forest is growing, many and more people will realize that the world is more and more a single community, that the time for division and polarization has long past. "In the spirit of Wergeland - each tree is a reminder that it is time to become a brotherhood of man and woman and leave the other ancestral ties and prejudices for whatever reason they came to be in the past."

Michael Holmboe Meyer`s main interest is writing - and since he was twelve, his articles in the humanities - have appeared in newspapers about three thousand times.

Holmboe is a descendant from Danish emigrants coming to Norway in 17th century, the owner of Lesja Jernverk (Lesja Ironwork).

Reinhold Ziegler purchased in 1709 the Lesjaverket from Herman Treschow. Hans Holmboe dy. bought the iron work in 1750. Following Holmboes death, Birgithe von Ziegler got married to Poul Irgens.

The author and his wife, Kanda Ch. Meyer, live nearby a park at Eiganes, in his home-town Stavanger. The house was built in 1891.
