CD-Runner for Windows --------------------- CD-Runner for Windows is a unique new Audio CD & CD-ROM Utility for Windows. Audio CDs and CD-ROMs are now easier to run than ever. Simply place the CD/CD-ROM into the drive, and click the CD-Runner icon. CD-Runner will automatically identify the type of disk (CD/CD-ROM), query the library database to get any stored information, and run it. If a CD is detected, a CD player faceplate will be displayed; if a CD-ROM is detected, a CD-ROM runner will be displayed. If multiple programs are on the same CD-ROM, or if using multiple CD-ROMs (CD-ROM changer), a search feature allows you to step through the different programs & applications. Both DOS & Windows-based CD-ROMs are supported as well. In the CD-ROM library section, you are able to add or edit any entries into the CD-ROM library (database), and include icons, sounds, music, passwords, program titles & descriptions for each CD-ROM. In the Audio CD Library, you may enter CD Title, Artist, Songs, and Liner Notes. The unregistered shareware copy of CD-Runner for Windows may be distributed freely as long as none of the files are altered in any way. Although the shareware version limits use to a maximum of 5 CD-ROMs, it does provide you with a full working demo to try before you decide to buy. CD-Runner for Windows is actually a "spin-off" from STAR MENU (tm) for Windows. STAR MENU for Windows not only includes CD-Runner, but also includes a Removable Disk Runner, a very powerful yet easy to use menuing application or shell, a password-based security system with a host of user options, a quick application launcher, animation, full multimedia support and much more. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of CD-Runner for Windows, or STAR MENU for Windows, simply click on the "About" menu and click on the "Register" command in the shareware version which you are currently running, or print the file "ORDER.FRM". CD-Runner for Windows 2.0 New Features ------------------------- The following new features have been added to CD-Runner for Windows 2.0: * CD PLAYER - if a CD is placed into the CD-ROM drive, it is automatically identified and read; a new CD Player faceplate (much like the actual faceplate of many new audio CD players) will be displayed. The audio CD may also be setup into the library with it's Title, Artist, Songs, and Liner Notes; these will be displayed as the CD is run. All of the typical CD player functions are supported including programming capabilities, repeat mode, time functions, etc.. Other additions not normally found on a CD player include a song status bar showing % of song completion (click on this bar with the mouse to directly move to the associated position in the song), and a 2-icon "minimize" option which allows the CD to play without the CD player screen displayed (the icons will display the time, track #, and song). NOTE: to use the CD player, you must have an "MCI CD player" driver loaded. To load the driver (normally supplied with Windows), use the Windows Control Panel, and select the "Drivers" & "Add" options; select the "[MCI] CD Audio" driver from the list. (the driver file is named "MCICDA.DRV" and is usually found in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory). * MULTI-DISK CD-ROM CHANGER - Supports CD-ROM changers (with multiple CD-ROM capability); use the CD-Runner setup section to enter the CD-ROM drive letters, and when in the CD-ROM section of CD-Runner simply click on the "Search" option to run applications from any of the CD-ROM drives. The current CD-ROM drive letter will also be displayed on the CD-ROM runner screen. * GREATLY EXPANDED CD-ROM LIBRARY FEATURES - includes greatly expanded icon support to read icons from ICO, EXE, DLL, WMF, and ICL files. Also includes improved screens and options. * AUTOMATIC CD/CD-ROM RECOGNITION - CD-Runner is designed to automatically recognize if a CD or CD-ROM is loaded into the CD-ROM drive, and display the CD player or CD-ROM runner screen as appropriate. * SYSTEM INFORMATION - in the about section, a new System Info option has been added to show detailed hardware / software information including free system resources. * SMALL FONT OPTION - in the general setup section, a new small font option has been added to adjust the graphics & text spacing; usually Windows resolutions of 640x480 (VGA) & 600x800 (Super-VGA) use the small font option, while resolutions of 1024x768 or higher use the large font option (which is the default CD-Runner mode).
