ISDN Accelerator Pack
(Download: 376K, self-extracting file, published: March 5th, 1996)
Tired of waiting for information to download with your analog modem? The ISDN Accelerator Pack enables Microsoft ® Windows® 95 to make Dial-Up Network connections over high-speed, digital ISDN lines. This means faster access to the Internet, corporate networks, and online services like The Microsoft Network™.
ISDN can be five or more times faster than analog modems. Its speed ranges from 56 to 128 kilobits per second before compression and varies by telephone company and the ISDN hardware you use. Your ISDN hardware manufacturer will need to provide a driver that works with the ISDN Accelerator Pack (see below). To take advantage of ISDN's speed, your Internet Service Provider, corporate LAN, or online service will need to support ISDN and the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). Most telephone companies offer ISDN, and it works over existing telephone wiring.
