One important thing did not make it into the user's manual, and that is how to run a demo on the Model Board 1 imagery. This way you can test the system as soon as you get it installed, to see if it is working correctly. Steps to run the demo: 1. start RCDE 2. (load "$CME/code/CME-5d/UMass/umass-system.lisp") 3. load the Model Board 1 site model (using the rcde I/O pulldown menu) 4. from the UMass pulldown menu, select "Load Line Featuresets" at the pathname prompt, enter $CME/code/CME-5d/UMass/Demo/MB1/mb1boldt.fs then click the "DOIT" button 5. Using the RCDE "View"-"3D Feature Sets" pulldown menu, turn off the existing GCP and Buildings feature sets (toggle the "Pres" button) and selected the "UMass 3D buildings" the ("Sel" button). You may also want to turn off the "UMass Boldt Lines" at some point. 6. From the UMass pulldown menu, select "Initialize Site Model" 7. From the UMass pulldown menu, select "Detect Building Rooftops" (see manual for further menu information). You will be asked to select a rectangular region in any of the images. When it is done, a set of 2D hypothesized building rooftops will be in the "UMass 2d Buildings" feature set. 8. From the UMass pulldown menu, select "Match/Triangulate Rooftops". You will be asked to click on the image pane containing the 2d polygons that were just detected. At the menu, enter the following values: "Minimum Site Z Value" -92.0 "Maximum Site Z Value" 146.0 9. Sit back and relax while the polygons are matched across multiple images and triangulated. When done, a set of hypothesized 3D building wireframes will be shown, and entered in the "UMass 3d Buildings" feature set. 10. You may repeat steps 7-9 as often as you like, in any of the images.
