The ZONES module helps you determine the hardiness zone in which you live, as well as the average frost dates (last spring frost and first fall frost). To do this, follow these steps:
How
to Use the ZONES Module
|
|
Step 1 | Open the FLOWER MASTER program. (You will find the program at the location you specified earlier during the install process. The default location for Windows platforms is on the desktop or in the START>APPLICATIONS menu. The default for MAC OSX platforms is the desktop or startup disk.) When you first open the FLOWER MASTER program, a tips window appears. Read the information in this window and then click on the CLOSE button. (You can permanently disable this window by clicking the box "Show tips on startup" so that the check mark disappears.) |
Step 2 |
Open the ZONES module by clicking on its icon in the Main menu panel to the left: When you first open the ZONES module, one or more yellow Bubble Tips boxes may appear. Read the information in these windows and then click on their CLOSE buttons at their upper right corners. (You can disable this Bubble Tips feature by going to TOOLS>PROGRAM OPTIONS at the upper left of the main window.) |
Step 3 |
The ZONES window appears, defaulting to the "View All" image, which is a colored map of the U.S. An explanation of the colors used on the map is given in the legend to the left of the map. (Some images on the map can be enlarged by clicking on the magnifying glass icon underneath the image.) |
Step 4 |
Enter a state using the drop down box to see an enlarged image of the area which includes the state you have selected: |
Step 5 |
If you also select an AREA from the drop down box, you will see LAST FROST (spring) and FIRST FROST (fall) dates for that specific area: |
Step 6 |
Click here (or use your Browser's BACK button) to return to the Main Menu for the CD.
