Aurora Neverwinter Nights Model Viewer Readme. NWNMV_ReadMe.txt - February 25th, 2001 Neverwinter Nights Model Viewer Version 1.0.3.2 Welcome to the Aurora Neverwinter Nights Model Viewer. This file contains directions needed to use the Model Viewer. Sections --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.0 General 1.1 Purpose 1.1.1 The Aurora Neverwinter Nights Model Viewer is a stripped down version of a tool used internally at BioWare to…erm…view game models and tiles, otherwise we would have named it something else like "Fun-Time Clown Circus Laugh-o-Graph" 1.1.2 The model viewer can be used as an early compatibility test. If you can run the viewer and view the models (and their animations) then you probably can run Neverwinter Nights. No guarantees though. I'm sure there are some people who will try and run this on a 166mhz Pentium class machine. That would make us sad, but we would understand. See item 5.0 (Support) for more details. 2.0 Obvious controls and their function 2.1 'Select a Model to View' Pane - Left click on the model name to view that model in the display window on the right. 2.2 Logo Pane - located below the 'Select a Model…' pane, contains buttons that allow you to download more models from the Neverwinter Nights models webpage, and an 'About' button, that, when pressed, opens a window that displays program and version information. 2.2.1 Pressing the 'Download Models' button will launch your web browser and take you to a web page containing additional Model Viewer models. 2.2.2 Pressing the 'About' button will open a window that displays program, trademark, copyright and version information. 2.3 Camera Pane - contains buttons that move the observer's perspective in relation to the model. 2.3.1 Arrows - rotate the camera around the model in the direction indicated by the arrow. 2.3.2 Reset Button - in the middle of the arrow cross, resets the camera to its initial or default position. 2.3.3 Zoom Buttons - The hour glass (+/-) buttons move the camera toward (+) or away (-) from the model. 2.4 Animation Pane 2.4.1 Ready Button - Cycles the Ready animation, basically a 'neutral' pose. 2.4.2 Attack 1 - Activates the first Attack function for the model, then resets to the Ready position. 2.4.3 Attack 2 - Activates the second Attack function for the model, then resets to the Ready position. 2.4.4 Stand - The model moves to the Stand position. 2.4.5 Walk - The model walks. 2.4.6 Run - The model runsJ. Please Note: The model will not dance unless you get up from your computer and jiggle your head back and forth. 3.0 Not-so-obvious controls and their function 3.1 Display Window 3.1.1 Left Click and Drag - Rotate model. 3.1.2 Mouse Wheel - Move camera toward or away from model. 3.1.3 Right Click - Activate Submenu 3.1.3.1 Draw Grid - turn on the floor grid. 3.1.3.2 Environment - Lights & Colors 3.1.3.2.1 Background Color - sets the background color in the environment. Select a color from the palette to the right. 3.1.3.2.2 Head Light Color - set the color of the light illuminating the model. Select a color from the palette to the right. 3.1.3.2.3 Grid Color - set the color of the grid. Select a color from the palette to the right. 3.1.3.2.4 By removing the plug from the wall socket you will cut power to your computer. Don't do that unless there is a thunderstorm outside and you want to avoid power surges which can occur when lightning strikes you and you are granted super-powers. That's not true. 4.0 Getting new models - What good is a model viewer without new models to check out? We'll be making models available on a regular basis until the game is released, and here's how you can get them. 4.1 Downloading - Click on the 'Download Models' button in the Title Pane. This will launch your web browser, and take you to the Neverwinter Nights Model Viewer page. There you'll see images and descriptions of more models. Click on the Model Image or the Download Model text to begin the download process. Save the file to your computer. Be aware that the actual model and its associated files are compressed and bundled into a self-extracting file. 4.2 Uncompressing - Run the file, and you'll see a dialogue box that asks for the location of the model viewer files. Use the Browse button to find that directory. Press the Extract button to put the compressed files in the proper location - the same directory that the model viewer executable is in. The model should now be visible in the model viewer list. 5.0 Support and other information 5.1 Yes, we're not supporting it. This software is an unsupported release from BioWare Corp. The Neverwinter Nights Model Viewer is a subset of a tool we use internally to view models for the game, on known hardware. As it was designed with our hardware in mind, we know what it will run on. We're guessing it will run on other platforms, but we're not able to modify and patch the Model Viewer to ensure it will run on other system configurations. It is not passing through the compatibility testing and rigorous Quality Assurance we give our games, and we will be giving Neverwinter Nights. If we were to do that, we wouldn't have time to finish the game. Yet we do want to get this nifty little program out for folk to enjoy. That being said, it may work fine on your system. If so, great! Congratulations! Get ready for some spiffy Neverwinter Nights fun. 6.0 Copyright information. 6.1 NEVERWINTER NIGHTS © 2002 Infogrames and BioWare Corp. All Rights Reserved.
