  • What is gdb

    gdb is gnu (the free software foundation)'s debugger. it is a replacement (or complement) to dbx. From the description on the manual page:
    The purpose of a debugger such as GDB is to allow you to see what is going on ``inside'' another program while it executes-or what another program was doing at the moment it crashed.
    This software is part of the GNU project, and as such is covered under the GNU Public License. Please read the manual pages and the info pages for more information on how to use the software.

    Installation Method

    All of the subsystems for this product can be installed using IRIX. You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the Software Installation Administrator's Guide for complete installation instructions.

    Compatibility

    This software is compatible with IRIX 5.3. and IRIX 6.x.
