This extension introduces the notion of an internal image format
whether it be destined for texture memory or the framebuffer.
Also, a new texture function, GL_REPLACE_EXT
, is defined.
- In addition to extending alpha, luminance/alpha, rgb and rgba image
types to include internal component bit sizes, this extensions
adds a new type: intensity.
- Tuning Tip:
When applicable, use luminance and intensity internal formats in
imaging functions (color_table, histogram) to reduce redundant
calculations on multiple components.
