Getting the Target's Name and Address

The name and address of the target system are required for miniroot installations when the distribution source is on a remote installation server. Enter the hostname command from the target system to get its name:

% hostname 
Enter the ping command from the target to get its Internet Protocol (IP) address. Use the output of the hostname command as an argument to ping:

% /usr/etc/ping -c 1 target_name
