Turning Off Process Accounting

To turn off process accounting, follow these steps:

Log in as root.
Enter this command:
chkconfig off
Enter this command:
/usr/lib/acct/shutacct
This stops the kernel from writing accounting information into the file /var/adm/pacct.

Process accounting is now turned off.
