                       toolbox/documents/I18N README

Internationalization, or I18N for short, continues to be implemented
under IRIX. Internationlized applications will increasingly become
necessary. Although the following documents are not the completed,
finished versions, they were included here in the interests of
providing new information in as timely a fashion as possible and
still meeting deadlines of releasing new toolbox versions.

	Primer.ps: IRIX Internationalization chapter

DISCLAIMER: This copy of what will eventually be
                                   the Internationalization chapter of
the IRIX Systems Programming Guide is
a DRAFT and may be incomplete or
                                   inaccurate in some respects.

This chapter explains basic concepts of software
                      internationalization and interfaces under IRIX.
After reading this chapter, the programmer
should be able to write internationalized
applications and should understand issues relevant
		      to the software internationalization and
localization processes. A simple recipe for
internationalizing an application without all the
detailed explanations is contained in the "IRIS
		      Internationalization Nutshell."

Nutshell.ps: This guide is an attempt to supply a high-level
description of the issues involved in
		      internationalizing software. Readers needing
details of coordinating interfaces will find them
in the IRIX Internationalization Primer (the chapter
                      listed above).
