ThinkPad 700C/720C Display Control Program for OS/2 Presentation Manager (c) Copyright International Business Machines Corporation, 1992, 1993 All Rights Reserved Author: Naotaka Kato (1) General Information of 700PRO.EXE (OS/2 PM program) - This program was prepared for IBM ThinkPad 700C/720C. This program does not work on IBM ThinkPad 700/720. - This program: - was prepared for a customer who uses ThinkPad 700C/720C as a presentation tool at conference. (LCD is for an operator of ThinkPad 700C/720C and external CRT is for audience) - is helpful to those who share the same screen of LCD and CRT. - enables an operator to turn on/off external CRT. - enables an operator to see the CRT status by minimized icon. - enables an operator to set the maximum brightness of the LCD. There are two levels of maximum brightness - "Economy mode" and "Normal mode". Economy mode gives longer battery operation. This selection does not affect the brightness of CRT. - LCD and CRT selection can be done by PS2.EXE program as well. "CRT (Enhanced)" mode is found in the selection of PS2.EXE. It is recommended not to set and save "CRT (Enhanced)" mode when you use 700PRO.EXE because "CRT (Enhanced)" mode was prepared to enable CRT resolution over 640x480. Please note that LCD resolution is limited to 640x480. (2) Information to install 700PRO.EXE Before running 700PRO.EXE program, you must check CONFIG.SYS file! "IOPL" must be set to "YES". It seems that OS/2 2.0/2.1 default is set to "YES", thereby most of the user does not need to edit the CONFIG.SYS file, but please confirm the following in CONFIG.SYS file. IOPL=YES If not YES, please change to "YES". (3) How to use 700PRO.EXE Please use mouse or ThinkPad TrackPoint. (I did not implement keyboard input to control CRT on/off and LCD maximum brightness control.) When no CRT is attached physically, please do not select "LCD+CRT". When "LCD+CRT" is selected, control circuits of CRT port consumes battery power. It shortens the batter operation.
