XClass++ is an add-on Object Class and function library for Alaska Xbase++^TM Version 1.2 for Windows.
XClass++ makes it possible to quickly develop professional Windows applications. XClass++ is rapidly becoming an important development tool for Alaska Xbase++^TM. Because of this, other major add-On products are now including support for XClass++. Through the use of new function classes, even Clipper DOS screens can be ported to a true GUI environment faster then ever before. The ease in which Clipper programmers can move into the Windows world is further enhanced by the support that XClass++ provides for well known Clipper^TM functionality.

XClass++ offers three major Application Class Groups: the MDI Class, the SDI Class, and the Dialog Class.

Within any application, toolbars, statusbars, tooltips and accelerator keys can be used. In addition, each of the application class groups can use the XClass++ "data intelligent" window objects which are optimized for database applications. This means that the window objects are totally integrated with their related tables, allowing most database functions to be manipulated directly as window methods. Inside the windows objects you can use the beloved Clipper^TM "Hot keys".

For most Xbase++^TM controls there is an corresponding, even more powerful XClass++ control.
For example:

• The dsSLE class supports the Clipper^TM "Picture" formats and "Pre- and Post Validation".
• The dsPushButton class supports bitmaps with multible text-line captions.
• The dsTabControl class automatically manages multible tab pages whereas each tab page can be "painted" independently. The method ::AddPage() is then used to display each tab control. The tab rider can contain Bitmaps and Text and automatically sized and positioned by the dsTabControl.
• The dsMenu Class offers a simplified contruction of and access to the menu structure. Because each menu prompt has its own exclusive ID, many new possibilities can be associated with them. For example, a prompt can be associated with a tool bar button. Additionally, the dsMenu class supports the construction of context sensitive menus.
• The dsStatusbar class allows item objects such as messages, progress bars, bitmaps, and push buttons to be added to window status bars
• The dsToolbar class displays tool bar buttons in Explorer style. You can define as many tool bar buttons as you like. A tool bar button can be attached to a menu prompt or can be functionally independent.
• Any Control can have a Tooltip-Message attached.
