Special Commands

The Palace Client possesses a number of special commands allowing you to personalize your experience online. Most special commands consist of text typed into the Input Box: these begin with a single backquote ( ` ). Although the special commands available may vary from site to site, the standard assortment includes the following:


Shortcut Keys

Tab
Toggles focus between the Input Box and the Viewing Area.

Up Arrow
Pages back through your previously typed statements.

Down Arrow
Pages forward through your previously typed statements.

Esc
Clears the Input Box .

Control + Alt (PC)
Command + Option (Mac)
Shows the names of all the people in the current room.

Control + Shift (PC)
Control
(Mac)
Causes outlines of all the doors in the current room to become visible.


Displaying Special Balloons

You can change the way your words appear on the screen by typing the following special characters in front of your text:

: my message
This gives you a �thought� balloon, instead of the normal �talking� balloon.

! my message
This gives you an excited-looking "spiky" balloon. Useful for shouting.

^ my message
This gives you a rectangular �sign� balloon, which stays up until you move or say something else. Sign balloons are useful for saying things like �BRB� (Be Right Back) or �on the phone�.

@x,y my message
Displays your text balloon wherever you want on the screen. X and Y are the numeric coordinates of the location. The View Screen is 512 pixels wide (X) by 384 pixels high (Y). This feature doesn't work for Guests.

; my message
Displays your message only in the Log Window.


Playing Sounds

The following sounds are available to all Palace clients. Individual Palace sites may make other sounds available. To play the sounds, type the following:


Changing Expressions

If you use a standard "RoundHead" as your avatar, you can change the avatar's face expression by typing the following:
