This section briefly describes how to use the Windows Find command,
which can be very useful for disk management.
SpaceMan 99 helps find the largest folders on a disk.
If you just want to know where the largest files are, then you can do this as follows:
How to find the largest files on a disk
- From the Windows Start menu, select Find or Search
(depending on which version of Windows you are using) then Files or Folders.
- Choose the disk(s) you want to search in the Look In selector.
- Select the Advanced tab, and select Size is At least, 1000 KB.
Strictly speaking this step is not necessary, but it filters out small files of less than about 1 MB.
- Press the Find Now button.
- You will then get a list of all files that match the criteria specified.
To find the largest files, click on the Size column header, which will sort the files by size.
The largest file will then be first in the list.
- You can make the Find panel bigger by dragging out either of the bottom corners,
or by pressing the maximize button in the title bar.
