Copying a Project folder (2008)
 

From your Hard Drive to a Pen Drive (Flash Drive)

To copy a Project folder from your Projects folder on the Hard Drive to a Pen Drive, follow these steps:

  1. Exit Visual Basic 2008 and insert your pen drive
  2. Open the My Documents folder on the Start Menu.
  3. In the My Documents folder, double-click the Visual Studio 2008 folder to open it.
  4. Double-click on your Projects folder to open it.  You should now be inside the projects folder here:

                \My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects

  1. Locate your Project folder that you want to copy, then double-clicking on it.
  2. Inside your Project folder, delete the Obj and Bin foldersùthese folders are created automatically when you open a project.  Note: For some advanced class projects you may need to keep the Bin folder.
  3. Hit the Backspace key onceùor click the Back button on the toolbar.  This moves you from inside your Project folder to back inside the Projects folder.
  4. Now right-click on the Project folder you want to copy and select your Pen Drive on the Send To fly-out menu.  This copies the Project folder to your pen drive.
     

From a Pen Drive (Flash Drive) to the Hard Drive

To copy a Project folder from a Pen Drive to the Projects folder on the Hard Drive, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Pen Drive that contains the Project folder you want to copy.  Open My Computer on the desktop and double-click on the Pen Drive icon to access its contents. 
  2. Right-Click on the Project folder that you want to copy and select Copy on the context menu.
  3. Open the My Documents folder on the Start Menu.
  4. Inside the My Documents folder, double-click the Visual Studio 2008 folder to open it.
  5. Right-Click on the Projects folder and select Paste on the context menu to paste a copy of the project folder from your Pen Drive into the Projects folder.
