Go into the tent and pull back the cover of the sleeping back on the right.

You'll find a journal behind the covers.  Read through all of the entries in
the journal, and once you've read them all, leave the tent site.  You should
hear Max scream -- if you didn't, that means you need to go bag and read more
journal items.
