Castle Technology

Castle and Tematic Merge to Create Multi-faceted RISC OS Company.

Castle Technology Ltd and Tematic Limited today confirmed that Castle and Tematic merged in the fourth quarter of 2003. The combined business will trade under the Castle Technology Ltd name with a new "Tematic Division", focused on offering full design and engineering resources to customers wishing to licence RISC OS for use in their new products.

Jack Lillingston, CEO (Chief Executive Officer) for Castle said, "The combination of Tematic's engineering skills and Castle's marketing and product skills means that we have a company structure that can really tackle the opportunities that lie ahead".

In a separate move Castle also announce that they have appointed Peter Wild as director and COO (Chief Operation Officer). Peter Wild said, "It is great to be back in the RISC OS world. We hope to clinch substantial licence deals with a variety of household names over the coming months. Things have never looked more promising for RISC OS".

The Tematic Division will continue to be based in Cambridge and will develop and support an embedded version of RISC OS which has been designed for use in the new generation of smart multimedia products for the high volume consumer electronics market.

Castle will continue producing the Acorn and IYONIX pc range of computers.

John Ballance CTO (Chief Technical Officer) for Castle said that "This strengthens the product side of Castle's business and gives us a clear path to develop and enhanced products for the future".

About Peter Wild

Peter Wild is an expert in electronic design and manufacture, with 17 years experience, including 10 years as Founder and Managing Director of Wild Vision Ltd, a leading manufacturer of add-on hardware, multimedia and desk-top video accessories, who produced some of the most highly acclaimed accessories for the Acorn range of desktop computers.

After teaming up with top Acorn Software House Computer Concepts in 1992 Wild Vision was subsequently acquired by Acorn; Peter continued to work with them, and more recently Pace, where he was responsible for several RISC OS Set Top Box designs.

Peter is experienced in 'design for manufacture', frequently working in Southeast Asia with high volume manufacturers to introduce products to their factories. With a proven track record as a creative and prolific designer who can transcribe and deliver technical innovations into realisable applications, he has an excellent understanding of how hardware, software and infrastructure products must fit together and how to work with mutli-disciplined teams to achieve objectives.
