The last couple of months seem to have been a bit quiet on the software front, however at RISCWorld we have pulled out all the stops in order to bring you the best of the new releases.
Accounts - Stephen Murphy
Easy accounts is a free, easy to use accounts package for use in the home or office. The software offers a simple to use interface and built in interactive help. The comprehensive manual also contains step-by-step instructions on how to use the package. Version 1.00 offers all the basic features needed with later versions adding more advanced capabilities. So, why waste money on expensive PC alternatives?
ButtonBar - The Flying Pig
ButtonBar is a relocatable module which allows you to run BBar files. These provide user definable button bars for any program which supports keyboard input and shortcuts. If you have a favourite program that doesn't have a button bar you can add one easily and quickly using the supplied button bar editor, or try the example button bar files provided.
Using ButtonBar should be pretty straightforward. Double clicking the filer icon will load the module for use. BBar files can then be executed simply by double clicking on them. At first it may seem that loading a BBar file has had no effect, but do not be deceived: the bar will only appear once its associated program becomes the input focus (just like DrawWorks - ED). This new version of ButtonBar is now RISC OS 4 compatible.
Clicking menu on a button bar which has appeared on screen will open a menu with two entries. "Info" gives the standard window containing info about the module. "Remove" will close the button bar and remove it from memory, freeing up the RAM which it used. ButtonBar supports interactive help, so if you want to know what a particular button does and the picture isn�t very informative, !Help is probably the easiest way to find out.

KeyLED - Matthias Sommerfeld
A wonderfully simple idea. Now you an see on-screen if either your "Caps lock", "Num Lock" or "Scroll Lock" keys are depressed. Not only that but if you have used other machines you may be familiar with the little noise that happens every time you press a key, with KeyLED your RISCOS computer can click along as you type.
Roots - Alex Waugh
Having included a review of APDLs Ancestor+ in the last issue we thought we would include Roots from Alex Waugh. Although nothing like as comprehensive as its commercial counterpart this does allow you to make family trees which you can print out and save into universal GEDCOM format.
If you want to get the best from the package then I recomend that you read the comprehensive HTML manual that comes with it.
Solitaire - R. Macfarlane
And finally we come to a new version of the classic game, Solitaire. This version by R. Macfarlane includes all the options you could possible want as well as a complete solution to the puzzle. Truly a superb version and well worth a play when you can't be bothered to do any work.
