═══ 1. Introduction ═══

mainCODEC/2 enhances the native OS/2 MMPM/2 multimedia system to playback and 
compress Windows AVI files. The codecs supplied are a subset of those of 
MainActor/2. We hope to increase the codecs of mainCODEC/2 in the future to 
include non-AVI file formats. Also, we will enhance the RLE and CRAM codecs to 
support compression. 

We did release mainCODEC/2 to give MainActor/2 users the choice of using the 
MMPM/2 codecs instead of our own module system. You can however use mainCODEC/2 
without ever using MainActor/2. 


═══ 2. MainActor/2 ═══

Although mainCODEC/2 is a seperate distribution, it is part of the MainActor/2 
package. MainActor/2 is a modular animation processing package which supports 
loading, playing, editing and saving of various animation, picture and sound 
formats. 

You can get the latest release of MainActor/2 from our home page or BBS. 


═══ 2.1. Registration ═══

As mainCODEC/2 is part of the MainActor/2 package, the same registration fee is 
applied. Note however that if you only use mainCODEC/2, we do not ask a fee for 
it. This may change when more sophisticated (de)compressors are added. 

If you decide to register MainActor/2 and mainCODEC/2, we will send you a 
personal serial number which will be able to unlock all future versions of the 
MainActor/2 software. 

The fee for MainActor/2 is $60 (99,- DM) or any equivalent sum in your local 
currency. Please no foreign checks (except EuroChecks). We do take 
Master/EuroCard. 


═══ 2.2. Mailing List ═══

We are running a mailing list for MainActor/2 and mainCODEC/2 called 
os2-MainActor. If you are interested in one the products, we recommend to join 
the list. To join to the mailing list send email to listserv@mainconcept.de. 

The body of the message should contain one of the following lines: 

 ADD your email address os2-MainActor 
           Adds your email address to the mailing list. 

 DELETE your email address os2-MainActor 
           Deletes your email address to the mailing list. 

 FAQ os2-MainActor 
           Sends the FAQ of the os2-MainActor mailing list.
