,____________. | | | SMARTASS | | quick docs | | | `````````````' - What? o Smartass is fortune cookie program. Available for platforms rang- ing from the old Amiga 500 to a Digital Alpha (64 bits). . . . - Installation o Copy the file 'Smartass.dat' to this directory! o Run setup.exe and let it do things for you. . . . - DOS version o SmartDos runs in protected mode. This means that the file called Cwsdpmi.exe must not be deleted. Minimum CPU >= 386. o Also works with WinNT. o Has command line options: -n don't clear screen first. -h display quick help. -f xx print fortune number xx. -c prints fortunes continuously. Any key to stop. -t don't print header before cookie. o Requires 'Smartass.dat' file in the same dir as SmartDos.exe . . . - WinNT/95 version o Requires Win32. This is included in Win95---but not in Win3.11. Technically, this program should work with OS/2, WinNT, Win95 and Win3.11, _if_ you have Win32 installed. o Requires 'Smartass.dat' file in the same dir as SmartDos.exe o Has own configuration program included. Smartass.exe loads the configuration file called 'Smartass.cfg'. This program doesn't set the width of the window---it just reads the value from the config file. Change it to whatever you like (567-->1280 pixels) to make it suit your environment. o The history is 16 entries. . . . The rest should be self-evident. Any problems should be directed to email: sveinarr@stud.cs.uit.no . . . - Thanks to: o Havard Pedersen for making Smartass on the Amiga. o Frank Simonsen for machine typing qoutes. o Frank Larsen for betatesting unix versions. o Lasse Magnussen for betatesting (amiga, pc) and drawing graphics. o Krister Mikalsen for hints'n'tips on Windows coding. o Lifemeister for hosting the archives. o Jan David for making man pages. o Paal Ekran for hints about X11 programming. o Andrew Hood for pointing out the which is which of big and little endian. o Paul Currie for sending in those quotes. o Kristian Waerass for the HitchHiker's book and suggestions. o Sharon Kraft for making it run on Digital Alpha machines (64 bits) and patching up the GUI for Unix versions. o TD, a computer society in Tromso, Norway for letting us use the ftp.
