OK, try http://www.ross-gill.co.uk/table-test/ on some browsers and
check the source. I can't vouch for any browser other than IE and NN
just now, but I have just checked it on Netscape 4.7 and it appears to
work.

Hi guys
I have been offered an iMac (around 15 months old) for 350-400.
I know little about Macs, and I don't know this ones spec, so I need
some quidance.
Is this a decent price, and what will I get for my money.
Oh and BTW, I won't be dropping my Amiga :)

It'll be a 233Mhz G3, pretty nippy considering. MacOS 8.5 at the =
lowest,
which you may want to reinstall and/or upgrade to MacOS 8.6 + all the
fixes or even MacOS 9. It should have a fair amount of software for it
as per the bundles, and some more besides I'd think.
It may well be blue. I hope you like blue.
For =A3400? Well I'd say it's a bit expensive. =A3350? Yeah, maybe. You =
can
get a iMac branny in any colour you like for about =A3800 which will be
twice the speed and spec of the one you'd be getting, so half price =
seems
about right. Say =A3335 and see if they'll take that ;)

Hmmm, thanks for that. In terms of web browsing etc I assume I'll be
OK? Especially as I'm currently doing it on a 030 with AGA :(
Also are there any must haves? Can I adapt my HP Laserjet III or will
I need to buy an apple printer? I understand you can get USB/Parallel
convertors, but what about drivers?

Damn right it'll be okay ;)
With Internet Explorer 5 coming out soon for the Mac, it looks to
be the fastest, and most 100% compliant (yes, you read it right!)
internet platform in existance. End of March I think they're saying,
and until then you can be using the far-superior IE4.5 instead of
lame old Nutscrape.

That depends what you want to do. Office 98 is a must-have in
my book..

If it doesn't have drivers for a LaserJet III, then you can set
the printer up as a LaserWriter II NTX and it'll work fine. Every
laser printer on the planet is based on an Apple printer ;)
My OS8.1 PowerMac 7200/90 picks up the networked HP Laserjet 5si/mx
here okay. A similar Mac picked up an HP LaserJet 5 installed
locally ("LaserWriter Bridge"d onto the network, for the record)
only a few days ago. I seriously doubt that an iMac would have
any troubles. You might want to mail HP or look at their site for
recommendations on how to connect it all up. They may have a
"special" cable.

Hi, John,
There were a series of these monitors with similar numbers but I
think the 1081 is a rebadged Philips, it's PAL only composite video, on a
phono input, it might have a seperate Luma and Chroma input, and probably
has Analog (PAL rates) RGB as well. Fairly low res, ok for video or non
interlaced.
As for age, I would go for A1000/A500 era. You might find a date printed
somewhere, or hidden in the first digits of the serial number, try a look at
www.philips.com

That's because you have put *all* of the images within *one* table cell.
I'm on about when you put *one* image in *one* table cell.
Besides, I did forget about something, using WIDTH and HEIGHT in table
cells won't always work. It's the way you lay out your code that can
cause problems, e.g.;
<TR>
<TD>
<IMG SRCe"piccy.jpg">
</TD>
</TR>
Will cause the gaps in NN and Aweb, etc. But, by laying out in the
following way, won't;
<TR>
<TD><IMG SRC="piccy.jpg"></TD>
</TR>
To see what I mean, take a look at the following page's source using NN
(4.7 here) or Aweb: http://www.wharne.u-net.com/swag/test.htm to see
what I mean.

MagicTV2 has been a saviour in this time of waiting for a BVIsion.
WBCtrl and RaWBInfo are good, and FBlit is another must for non- gfx card
owners.

Going by the amount of mail I read with questions about it I would say
yes, but it would need to be a more advanced tutorial than usual. It would
seem more and more people want to understand the innards of their software

Well, you could do as I do and put the PPC library emulation call just
before SetPatch without the Reboot argument, so that you set up both
3.5 and PPC libemu in one reset on the first bootup.

You don't necessarily want to use RJ 45 (I don't) - 10Base2 is easier to
manage if you have a large number of machines in a single room and avoids
the need for a hub. You can generally get around the CC_RESET problem by
pulling out and reinserting the card, although this is obviously harder if
it's inside a tower...

On the boot-up screen (the one with the rotating CDTV logo and the
CD) press either A or B on the remote. It'll enter the preferences screen
- simply highlight the clock and date sections with the directional pad
and type in the new details on the numberic pad on the remote. Press B to
quit out and the clock will remain set until the power is unplugged
(switching the machine off is fine).

The A570 (CD addon for the A500) was called the A690 up until the A300 was
redesginated the A600. I think the A1200 was sold in some places as the
A1500 (the A1500 sold in the UK was a rebadged A2000 specific to the UK -
I don't think it was sold anywhere else like that, although I could be
wrong) and the A3000T was called the A3500 during development. That's all
I can think of off-hand...

I already have a hub as all my PC network cards are RJ-45, I agree 10Base2
is simpler, but my machines are spread around the house and it gets a bit
fiddlier then. With RJ-45 I can run the cable through the walls and have
sockets in each room.
I started off with 10Base2, but as the network spread out it became less
practical.

UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair?) is the cable, RJ-45 is the connector

I don't know where you shop, but if you're paying 80 quid for a hard

You don't need to have a net connection to take part in RC5 on it.
Just download the blocks using a machine that *is* connected, and
transfer them to the other machine on floppy disk.

The software licence on these games usually indicate they are free for

giving them away on magazine CDs.

You speed demon you. Mine takes 55 seconds for the workbench screen to
begin appearing.
If I'm interpreting the various screen flashes and floppy drive checks
correctly, it seems to be taking 15 seconds for each series of SCSI
device checks.
After that, there's about 10 seconds to actually run the startup
sequence etc, ending with Workbench.
How have you managed to get a 5 second startup! My hard drive sounds
like it takes almost that long to spin up.

Easy. Mozilla says it'll be 100% compliant, but it fails quite a few
compliance tests. Opera is supposed to be working towards 100% compliance,
too, but it doesn't.
But IE5 really trounces them by being 100% STANDARDS compliant, and
also 100% compliant with Microsoft's extensions *too*.
200% compliant, then :)

QSSL's "latest whim" is how it looks full stop. It never ever

As long as you have nothing that accesses the PCMCIA slot and nothing that
accesses the IDE interface such as IDEFix then in theory you should be able
to just plug in and go. That's what I did!
The thing to watch out for is the 040 in the A4k (I presume it has an 040
in it) - if the A1200 doesn't have one, make sure you've got a copy of
68040.library in libs: on teh A1200 before you do plug into the A4k. Oh
and anything like gfx card software or PPC datatypes might cause problems ...

I think you'll find it's the OTHER conflicting patches, and
the lack of proper configuration makes your Amiga unstable.
I'm sure if you culled a few of the hacks MCP decides you
need, as per the docs, and changed the patch orders (and
installed SetMan or TRSaferPatches) it'd work fine.
It works fine on my machine, which is - as usual - solid
as a rock.

That rather depends on whether you interpret copyright as duplicating
for the sake of keeping a copy, and for the sake of depriving a person
of earning something for their work.
Watching TV is copying a signal onto your CRT, but that's not a breach
of copyright. Viewing a web site temporarily makes a cache copy, that's
how the technology works, it's unavoidable. What about remembering the
contents of a book?
People seem to forget that the purpose copyright is to protect
intellectual property from someone else profiteering at your expense,
not to just blanket ban the copying of things for the sake of it.

I'm not surprised. This controller also has another really annoying
problem. It won't let the drive go to sleep. The controller
continually polls the SCSI bus (I suppose that's there way of doing
diskchange handling for CD-ROMs), but it wakes up the Zip drive. So
disks (and the drive) will wear out a hell of a lot quicker.

Nope. This is MS we're talking about, they practically made bloatware the
industry standard. The fact that they tried to create a shared library
system and failed miserably might have something to do with it...and they
have to keep adding to it. To change it would pretty much make every
existing Windows program incompatible.

It depends what you mean by "same amount of stuff" :)

Gods I hate NTFS...in fact, I just hate NT full stop. The NT machine in
work hasn't had anything done to it in about 3 months (it acts as a web -
using IIS4 - and RealAudio server) except for the obligatory reboot once a
week...and it still appears to have completely buggered several things up
all by itself. For example, the Java VM has stopped working for no
apparent reason, it refuses to play Shockwave files, the IIS Manager
refuses to work claiming it doesn't have access (yet the HTML version works
perfectly), one of the hard-disk partitions has write protected itself from
FTP access, it has on occasion "lost" the administrators password...need I
go on? :)

Probably....I haven't used it yet, and hopefully will never have to ;)

The PPC version currently stands at 131 preorders (updated tuesday).

Does anyone have definative information as to what is happening with
phase5 accelerators sent back for repair? I am currently not able to
use my Amiga as all programs I have are optimised for either 060 or
PPC. :( I have to make do with this stupid win98 laptop. Not to mention
the fact that I can't use my 64Mb of fast ram as it is all in the form
of SIMMs on the accelerator.
I would appreciate it very much (as I'm sure would all Amiga Format
readers in the same boat) if someone with some clout (hint hint, Ben
Vost) or even someone over there in Europe (hint hint, etc) could let
us know what is happening.
I'm sure most people on this list would not want to go through the pain
of dealing with Windows programs (at least someone could try doing a
decent IRC program for this box). :(

It is only the closing bracket that makes the difference - either
<TD>
<A...</A></TD>
or
<TD>
<A...</A><BR>
</TD>
work with no gaps. Without thinking (I must have encountered this a
while ago) I used the latter in my example - try removing the <BR> at
the end of line 18...

Alex, you're in Greece, and nobody else is. Stuff just
isn't as cheap over here because it costs more to
import.
I'd be perfectly happy to pay =A350 for a 4.3Gb drive,
'cos that's how much I can find them for QUICKLY. I'm
sure I could find a 6Gb drive for the same, but who
cares? What do I do with that extra 2Gb? Nothing.
It just goes to waste, and the drive will die before
I ever get enough data to store on it. This isn't a
PC, it's an Amiga, and they don't take up much space
(so says I, owning a 4.3Gb drive with only 600Mb of
data on it)

If the drive is a small drive (2.5") that fits inside the A1200 then
you will need an IDE adaptor from Eyetech for it to work on the A4000.

I found it QUICKLY too i don't need to search to

OK the main reason for this BIG difference in price is
the import cost as you mentioned. But if I were you I
would order my HD from another country.

2.1Gb, 3/4 full. My workbench, 3.5, net particians are half full, my

a lot of zip disks, make backups and then reformat Im up the preverbial

Hmm.. OS3.5 install is 20Mb, my Workbench partition is
still only 45Mb with loads of truetype fonts installed,
I have 450Mb of data backed up from my old hard drive,
and a the rest is networking apps, source code, StormC
and PPaint, plus a few others.
I download quite a bit of stuff, but I purge it once
a week (list all files before Saturday to t:del.tmp lformat "delete =
%n")
so it keeps down.
I guess you just have to care..

Easy peasy: go and buy CyberGraphX 4 on CD, and
install the latest 4.2prerelease update. You'll
get a much faster, more stable system out of it

Hi matt,
personally I have a "Download" Dir (Assigned) that EVERYTHING I
download, doesnt matter if I know i want to keep it or not, goes into.
This, as you do with your set-up, gets "purged" every now and again
(usually when there`s too amny icons to fit in the half-screen window!).
But your right (wow!), you do need to keep things to a minimum,
otherwise you end up with just soooo much c*** its unbelievable. :(

Busyland is closer to the amiga-c mailing list (and Voyager one ;)

Yesterday I tried to backup my smaller partitions using Make CD onto

1. I cant write from a ISO image. The buffer fills and the CDR starts
writting everything is fine for a few minutes then the buffer zipps
empty and
make cd yells at me.
2. I can write direct from my IDE HD but although the 20MB buffer
never drops
below ~ 98% full it will only write at 1X. I have set MakeCD to write
as fast
as possible however it keeps doing this.
3. Im having problems with mounting the drive through
Blizzardpcc.device. In
the boards BIOS I set the scsi unit 3 (This is the one with the device

mount as a cd with device name CDW and set the data mode as synchronous.
However it keeps defaulting to a CR0 and 40 buffers no matter how i

dont bother Matt.... I'm *always* telling people to get CGX4 as it
solves so many problems (and is faster!) but they often reply with
ill-thought-out sentiments and swearing. Whats the matter with these
people..dont they want to get the most out of their expensive
hardware?

Leave it out, Alan! That was just uncalled for. I'm=20
offering advice, and you're sh*tting on them for no
reason!
We'll see what Simon says first, and if he DOES swear
(which I doubt) then you can launch your anti-personnel
missiles at will. Until then:
Simon, I recommend you just bite the bullet and get
CGX 4.2 - there really is no reason to stay with CGX 3
anymore especially now that it's never ever going to
be updated ever again, and that it's as unstable as
hell (yes it is!)
WipeOut is one hell of a lot faster with CGX 4 than
it is with 3. And it may solve many a problem with
your system that you'd never have noticed that
causes a lot of trouble.

If you can smell the silicon, then the "power-up" obviously highlighted
another problem :)
I just want to hear when a "real" person - such as yourself gets one and can
test it out with everyday apps to see how it reacts - I won't get one until
someone has gfx/sound card drivers done personally...

But then you have about 100 kick-ass Amiga setups: for us

I don't have PPC - yet!
Might get the AmiJoe 4K though - that sounds like a nice card (on the
grounds that waiting for a Phase5/???? G3/G4 may take some time)

If you're an A1200 owner, with a PPC, you almost certainly have
a machine with a 68040 processor *AND* higher. Future proofed,
almost. Lucky Amigans will have an A1200 almost as powerful as
an iMac (and at only 4x the cost!!!)
With A4000s and A3000s, you have the best Amigas out, high
end neatness out of the box, and probably filled with all
kinds of juicy meaty cardage!

Don't you worry Alan! As soon as my BVision arrives, I'll be straight
on the phone to order myself a copy of CyberGFX 4.
Remember people: we may have a hardware market, but the software market
is slowly dwindling. For those with CGX3, buy V4 now, before it is too

Nooo...you really don't want to do that. Large networks should use RJ45,
simply because if one lead between a machine and the hub breaks, just that
machine is affected. On 10Base2, if a lead breaks *anywhere* the entire
network goes down. Baaad. 10Base2 should only be used for small networks,
no more than 10 machines at the most I'd say.

Surprisingly enough, I'm with Mash on this one. I've been following this
thread, and it does seem that some folk are trying to find fault just
because it's Mash that they're replying to.
For the record, I've never received one of these fabled moderator messages
either. I *know* that a few of my mails have been over the daily limit
through a combination of the number downloaded, and the fact that my mails
have failed to appear by the following evening. It would appear that these
moderator messages don't get sent to everyone, eh?
Yes, Mash's comment was ill-advised, and very likely to cause offence to
some people. I think he's probably well aware of that by now. If you don't
like what he has to say then filter his messages. You'll miss some
well-informed comments that way, though.
Regards,
Jonny (trying not to be an arsehole).

Are you saying my slightly sarcastic response was uncalled for? :)
An HTML document can contain either frames or "content" (for want of a
better description). Frames are defined in the FRAMESET tag, content
is defined in the BODY tag. Since you can't have frames and content at
the same time, you can have both BODY and FRAMESET tags. All the content
of a framed page is contained in separate documents that are loaded into
the frames.
The only apparent exception to this is including BODY within NOFRAMES.
If the NOFRAMES content is shown, then the FRAMESET tag is ignored, the
document is no longer a framed page, so the above statements still hold
true.
The three possible constructs are
<HTML>
<HEAD>...</HEAD>
<BODY>...</BODY>
</HTML>
<HTML>
<HEAD>...</HEAD>
<FRAMESET>...</FRAMESET>
</HTML>
<HTML>
<HEAD>...</HEAD>
<FRAMESET>...
<NOFRAMES>
<BODY>...</BODY>
</NOFRAMES>
</FRAMESET>

No news sites should have it available fro download, only a link to
Blittersoft's site. It's a paid upgrade, a tenner, not a free download.

Well, the question related to the content of an article in the mag. As

It's fine to discuss that, because you're wrong :)
Francis Charig looks nothing like Alexi Sayle. He did look rather like

I say Viva Amiga and other OS's that don't need 24M RAM to themselves!
Does anyone know if the new (being produced) Amiga OS will be compatable
with mac Hardware? After all, a Mac G4 shouldn't be that different from
an IBM POP machine with a G4 processor. Here's hoping.

Hey All,
*Intro*
A week ago my brother was given an A2000 complete with monitor, diskdrive=
s, loads of disks, harddisks, some other bits and an CBM Bridgeboard (I b=
elieve its a 386 one). This weekend I took a look at the stuff and it was=
all in good shape (even the original A2000 manuals were there). =
Now he has this set-up, he wants to know how the Bridgboard performs but =
he is facing a problem because the neccasary software (Janus?) was not pr=
ovided. I know he should not be bothering to get a 386 working but as the=
board is there we'd like to see it working. =
*Question*
Is there anyway we can track down this software since calling CBM would n=
ot do any good, would it?
Thanks.
That's it, that's that.

What a fool. Not to worry, I believe this is a misunderstanding between
standards of social behaviour in the 'real world' and the world of the
list.
As an editor for the aforementioned un-nameable magazine, perhaps you
can tell me how to get on to the relevant list. Please don't point me

It's possible anything could have caused it. I've been playing around
inside my Amiga for years too, and it's the first time I've had a
problem with the ROMs. But it's definitely the ROMs that are the
problem. When I replaced them with my 3.0 chips everything was fine.

Not really, as all graphics images are displayed in black and white,
not even grey scale. Ok as long as it's simple pages you're making up,
though. I have Pagestream 2.2 off a coverdisk. It is able to import a
pretty good variety of piccy formats though. It's good as a sampler
for version 4, and a lot quicker than Wordworth 7.

Hi all,
Needed my OS3.5 emergency disk today after using ReOrg on my boot
partition (don't do it, reorganising under 3.5 will *screw* your boot
partition!!).
Trouble was, the bloody thing didn't work! Firstly it wouldn't mount
CD0: (which I fixed with the help of my CD=B3=B2 boot disk), then once it
mounted CD0: I realised that my HD was nowhere to be seen!!
Why is this happening? My HD just disappears after the startup-sequence
has loaded the system updates (it isn't there after the reset).
Also, why does the computer take so bloody long to reboot after the
floppy reset?
Good job I had my old HD as before to rely upon, although that wasn't
straight forward due to both the old and new physical names being DHx:
I am running a Fujitsu 4.3Gb 3.5" HD, and a Memorex IDE CDRW 2216.

Try http://home.t-online.de/home/r.benda/ , go down the page, right
under the Commodore logo there are some links. You will find virtually
every driver ever released by Commodore, the link you should be looking
for is "Kickstart Roms - Entwickler/Beta-Software", there you will find
the Janus Software.
Now if you wonder why this guy is placing all these copyrighted files on
his homepage - he was working at Commodore Germany and was responsible
for their developer/support mailbox, and basically he is offering the
same files that were available via BBS on this site because they aren't
available anywhere else anymore.

This is my point about Amiga hardware.
What is a person to do if he owns a piece of Amiga hardware, which is
not set up to go on the net but seems to work fine, say a 500? Does he

pack won't do much more than the 500, which still works. He is a long
way off (and a lot of money off,) anything workable with a hard drive,
extended memory, accelerator, flicker fixer, monitor and decent
software.
It's no good saying people in this position should "Support the Amiga
cause," because the average person doesn't care a jot about the cause
of any computer system =96 why should he?
Naturally, he buys a PC and perceives the 500 as redundant and it is
filed away with other used toys.
Now, if this out-of-date little gem (A500) was presented by the Amiga
press as something great which will do all sorts I believe there are
many electronics enthusiasts who would put them to all manner of uses.
Examples? Model train control, lighting display control, video titling,
label printing =96 the list is endless, as everybody knows. Until
recently Photo-me used Atari's for their card printing machines. I also
believe those two-dimensional games like pacman, space invaders and
Tetris etc are as popular as ever. I have just bought a 22" 15625hz
monitor (five pounds in a charity shop!) to build into a space invaders
consul which I will power from an A500. Surely I am not the only
engineer who enjoys this kind of project.
I have also wondered if AF could do joint projects with some
electronics magazine to reach a wider readership.
This is just my view; to me it is a shame that such useful hardware is
left to rot.
Cheers
Will.

Um..where? I looked on the Fusion bit, and the only linkl was to
J.Fentons page... and he's removed the Fusion stuff. I got v3.2 and
3.3 from there originally, but the cgx homepage contains a spatch type
patch that only works on 3.1 drivers, so I can't get it to work.

Downloaded it last week too, but haven't tried it yet. I'll see if I
can get Fusion to boot my SS Hardfile - it crashed before, but I was
using a link from the SS hardfilenanme to fusions MSHardfile00 name in
its HardFile dir. As it was 128MB I didn't want to copy it. I could
just move it and change SS prefs though... but as I said Fusion
crashed when booting it.

A1200T, with 604e @ 200 MHz, 060/50 and 96MB with CVPPC

The game will crash as you suggest unless yout type "GLQuakeWOS >nil:"
at the command prompt. Also, make sure you have a stack of 500000
bytes.
I have found the port to be stable, but in need of a speed boost on my

Ah. I ran it with just GLQuakeWOS -width 800 -height 600 -buf 2
Stack was at 1500000 though, so thats ok. I'll try redirecting see if

You wouldn't call Amiga being bought by another company "real

I agree entirely. The fact that 1200 Magic packs are still advertised
is nothing short of a farce. These machines arn't even the official
entry level system any more.If the new AMIGA inc are serious about
supporting the classic line as much as they can then they should
rectify this asap. The remaining machines should be towered and
upgraded and be internet ready. The retail price might be high but I
bet the remaining stock would soon sell out.

Why indeed?Unless the system is a viable alternative. The Amiga is a
brand name.

Great idea Will. The only way I could see any sort of project for the
500 getting started is with a software developer having a crack at it
ie model trains. They could then present the running system to that
market,Model train mags etc. There could be some money to be made for
any softies brave enough to give it a go.

Hi folks,
Since installing 3.5 I no longer get the fake icons to appear (e.g.
html.info for a html file). I have deficons in my system aswell as
deficons.prefs in Envarc: and I still have all the corresponding
def_xxxx.info files.
Has this happened to anybody else?
I'm stumped (that ain't hard is it Ben) :)

So use the Apple MRJ then.. you can easily get rid of the Microsoft
Java VM, it's just an extension easily deleted. The Apple one is
slower, but more compliant with the standards.
And it's not like the Microsoft JVM isn't compliant with the standards
ANYWAY, it just adds things in that aren't specced by Sun, which
people use and then break other Javas. Sun are stopping it anyway..

I'll give you a hint: webservers go down all the time,
ISP's hold obselete DNS information for hours at a time,
routers break, people mess with CGI scripts and sometimes
your connection is just way too slow.
i.e. quit worrying! It doesn't matter that teh website
is inaccessible for the few times you tried it, and it
doesn't matter what caused it either.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I thought the original query, rather than
discussing any person's work, was raised by something seen in AA. As
such I would imagine it would be relevant to any amiga user.

Oh, I be from North Devon I be! :) Seriously, the only user groups I
can think of are SWAG in Bristol/North Devon. (which I belong to) and
PAUG in Portsmouth. North Devon, in Bideford where occassionally a
meet in a brewery is held and is about an hour and a halfs drive.
Portsmouth is about as far. Pretty good travel routes to North Devon
(A35 -> M5 -> A361 -> A39 to Bideford) and Portsmouth is the otherway
(A35 -> A31 -> M27).
Where abouts near Lyme Regis? Charmouth? Lyme Regis is a lovely place
in the Summer! :)
All the best,
Nick.

Elate VP code, runs on the PPC,.. so any program written in that form
(i.e AmigaOS) will run on said hardware,. whats not obvious is how you
could boot directly into amigaos (as opposed to waiting days for OS9 to
load), cos the Mac ROMS really, really want to find MacOS. - i tried
(suffered), to get SuSE linux for the PPC to work on an old 604e 5400,

It probably is, but that doesn't affect the fact that it would be very
rude of me to discuss my work for AA on Ben's list.

That's hardly a fair analogy. How about walking into Dixons with a
Comet branded product and asking them to fix it? The assistant would
most likely say "We can't deal with that here" (assuming you could
actually find one willing to talk to you).
The reply was not curt, although it was short. That's often the nature
of email, most people type a lot slower than they can talk, and one of
the reasons for the use of smilies.

In this case it appears that the site stayed up, but the page for the
Fusion upgrade was unavailable. This is because Blittersoft have
withdrawn the upgrade. No reasons given as yet.

It may be down to the fact that some people were getting the
last-person-to-order's details inserted into their Checkout form,
which was a little worrying for ME at least.
No credit card details or anything were shown, but full postal
addresses and telephone numbers and email addresses appeared in
the form I filled out: I thought it could have been a glitch
as I cancelled that one (it kept adding a second copy of the
order to the list) and it didn't happen a second time..
Y'think?

Going off memory (I forget what is already on the CD) here's a list of
stuff i think should be on each CD :-
IDEFix & HDInstTools
SCSI_List
DiskSalv
A dir util such as RO (a poor man's DOpus 4)
ABackup
TheGuru
ARTM / SnoopDOS / Scout
Naturally, the latest versions of all would be preferable :-)
Hope this helps,

Because it's mainly bug fixes and it should be free to those of us who have
ordered and pre-paid for the PPC module?

You only need to have the boot partition to be in the first 4 GB boundary=

For having no problem about booting from large partintions or a one over =
the

false. Now you can use partition large 2^64 bytes.

No problem with HDtoolbox at all.

ONLY 20? Use Fast Quake 5.It is MUCH fast and rocky stable.

Hey, I don't read AFB over the weekend and I have filters
set to delete mails over 2 days old: hence I have no clue
about what was discussed before this morning, apart from
a few stray files which stayed in the Inbox rather than
going to the AFB folder..

I'm sorry, but "sitting on our laurels"? That has really offended me. I make
a concerted effort to keep improving the mag and that's what I get? After
all the changes that have been made in AF while AA /wasn't even out yet?/
Even afb was started before AmigActive came out.

Then they don't know what they're talking about. Perhaps they would be
better off saying they hadn't got it in yet for sale (but then they'd have
to admit that you know more than they do). It certainly isn't obsolete, as

My apologies, it was not my intention to offend, merely to point out
that where only one viewpoint or opinion exists there is an inherent
danger that it will stagnate.

I'm not trying to say the mag's bad, or that it doesn't improve. If it
either of those points were true, I'd cancel my subs

Since no-one has replied to this, I shall. TV programs aren't broadcast at
50fps if you mean Frames Per Second by fps. If you mean 50 Fields per
Second, then yes they do, but a field is only half a frame, which is why TV
programmes are interlaced. Believe it or not, that's a frequency thing too.
