Batteries Not Included
By Mark Lockett, Manchester
Drawn on an A1200 running DPaint IV AGA, this image is a fine example of the beautiful colour ranges possible with the AGA chip set's extended graphic capabilities. Note the shadow effect which is achieved using DPaint's Tint function.
FerretShip Scout
By Gary Arlett, A&B Photon Graphics
OK, so rendered images are 10-a-penny but what struck us about this one was its 3D effect. Rendered using Lightwave 3.5 and Vistapro 3.1, Gary has used Lightwave's fog feature for a real feeling of depth.
Arabian Knights
By Nathan Powell, Manchester
This picture proves that you don't need an AGA Amiga to create fantastic artwork. It was drawn in DPaint IV on an A500. Nathan wants to work in the computer industry as a graphic artist.
Hell Blazer
By Anthony Carpendale, North Yorkshire
Anthony sent us a disk of 12 images but this rather disturbing one was undoubtedly the best. Drawn using 32 colours, the illusion of many more colours is achieved using a variety of dither patterns.
LA
By Darren Barwise, Doncaster
Drawn exclusively in Cloanto's Personal Paint 4, this effective image from Darren Barwise demonstrates perspective (and how difficult it can be to get right). Worth examining is the perspective of the building on the far right of the picture.
Death Star Assault
By Weibo De Wit, Holland
Since the release of NewTek's Lightwave 3.5, the quality of rendered images sent to the AF Gallery has increased enormously. This image was rendered on an A4000/030 and took almost six hours to render with full anti-aliasing turned on.
See the Future
By Edward Moyse, London
This moody 16-colour image was drawn completely by hand using just a thick brush and DPaint's powerful Blend tool (Edward's favourite drawing function). He is particularly chuffed with the highlights on the crystal ball.
