A Resource About Project Safe Baby ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Every day, heading off to day care, shopping centers or the park, children are in danger of losing their lives. No parent, grandparent, or guardian would willing put a child at risk. Yet every time an infant or toddler rides in a motor vehicle without being restrained in a car seat, they are put at risk of injury and harm. The first law requiring car seats for children was passed in the State of Tennessee in 1978. By 1989, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico had enacted similar laws. At that time, car seat use was steadily increasing because, through education, the issue was brought to the attention of all citizens. But today usage rates have fallen stagnant, and it is time to put out the news once again. Project Safe Baby, initiated by Midas Muffler and Brake Shops, has published a brochure entitled "Tips For Safer Travel with Children" (in both English and Spanish) which contains the ABCs of car seats, information about their correct use, and descriptions about the various types that are available. To obtain your free copy, mail your request (specifying English or Spanish version) to Midas Project Safe Baby, P.O. Box 92292, Dept.
