A Resource About Head Lice

     More than 10 million people each year are infested with head lice.  In
fact, except for the common cold, head lice affect more children each year
than all other communicable diseases combined.  The peak season for head lice
infestation is August to November, just the time when children are returning
to the classroom.  And it is the time when the letters about these critters
begin to appear in my mail.  To help all interested parents and grandparents,
I am happy to tell you that a free booklet is available that may help answer
many of your questions about lice, preventing an infection and treating the
condition.  It is called "A Parent's Guide to Controlling Head Lice" and it
contains much of the information you need.  It contains all the guidelines for
cleaning children's clothing and surroundings, and how to tell if your child
