A Resource About Asbestos Removal

     Asbestos was once thought to be a miraculous substance.  It was a mineral
that could be spun and woven into fabrics that would not burn.  It was known
to the ancient Greeks and was called "Carpasian linen" for there were large
deposits of asbestos in Carpasius in Cypress.  It was also known as "linum
vivum" when made into shrouds for the cremation of nobility.  But the glory of
asbestos came to an end when modern medical research discovered that tiny
particles of this mineral, when breathed into the lungs, caused both pulmonary
disease and cancer.
     Removing asbestos, used as insulating material around pipes and in
walls, is not an activity for the weekend handyman, but should only be
performed by a professional asbestos contractor.  Two resources are of
