A Resource About Paget's Disease ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You may have seen some recent stories in the press about Paget's bone disease. This chronic disease of the bone (also known as "osteitis deformans") can cause enlarged and deformed bones in one or more areas of the skeleton, including the skull. It is a common disease in people of Western European descent and occurs in from 1 to 3 percent of the American population. A new organization, The Paget's Disease Foundation, a voluntary health agency devoted to serving patients suffering from Paget's disease of the bone, and to the members of the medical profession who treat them, has prepared a new publication. The brochure entitled "Questions and Answers about Paget's Disease of the Bone" contains many of the questions about this disease that have often been asked of me, and the easy to understand answers. In fact the 29 "Q and A's" pretty well cover all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. You may have your free copy by sending a stamped, self addressed business size envelope to The Paget's Disease Foundation, 165 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, NY 11201. If you suffer from this disorder, or know someone who does, this booklet is a must. ---------------- The material contained here is "FOR INFORMATION ONLY" and should not replace the counsel and advice of your personal physician.
