     It is no wonder that I receive dozens of questions concerning panic
attacks and phobias, when you consider that an estimated 14 to 24 million
Americans suffer from phobias at some point in their lives.  Phobias are
unreasonable fears of such aspects of everyday life as flying, tunnels,
elevators, automobiles, crowds or heights.  The terrors experienced by many
actually keep them prisoners in their own homes.  But a free booklet "Phobic
and Panic Disorders:  Getting Help" may now be obtained from the Phobia
Society of America.  It explains phobias and panic attacks, discusses causes
and treatments, and provides a plan for help that is available and effective.
