ThUGL Helpfile !
Current Supported Games: SIN, QUAKE2, UNREAL
What is ThUGL ??? (Back to top)
Thugl works as a frontend for all upcoming 3D-Shooters which uses the Unreal or Quake2-Engine like Sin, Unreal, Heretic2, Daikatana, Blood2, Duke-Nukem forever, and much more ! ThUGL makes 3D-Gaming much easier than without it !!! With ThUGL you are able to start the supported Games with all thinkable options !!! It's very easy to configure the different gametypes without editing some Ini-files or writing some big Command-Lines !. You can Start the Games in just 5 Seconds with the Options you want... You can start the games in single player-mode, fake-server (for users without Internet or LAN), or use it to start up the Games as a real Internet-Server !. Everytime a new Game releases, ThUGL will be updated within a few day's to work with it.
How to use it ??? (Back to top)
Just copy ThUGl in the Main Game-folder to start it working... We don't implement Installer-Software to keep the Registry clean ! We also don't install any DLL's, because so much software will misconfigure windows, and we don't wanna do that ! There is only one EXE-File to copy in the Game-Folder.
Gametype: Select between Deathmatch and Singleplayer-Mode. If you select Deatchmatch, be sure that you have configured your Game-Settings in the Options-Menu.
Level: Select the starting-level for playing the Game. If you are in Deathmatch-Mode, only the Levels are being displayed, which you have choosen for Map-cycle in Game-Configuration. In Singleplayer-Mode all Levels are displayed!
Timelimit: This is the Timelimit, set to cycle through maps. If the Timelimit hits, the next map will be started...
Fraglimit: Each time you kill a player, the fraglimit counts one hit. So if you have 10 kills and set the fraglimit to 10 the next Level starts, because fraglimit hits.
Maxclients: This will set the Maximum number of players who can join the Game.
Skill: This will set the Difficulty in Singleplayer-Mode... 0=Rookie, 3=Expert
Quit upon starting Game: This will Quit ThUGL after the Game has started...
Edit current Command-Line send to Sin: This will display the current command-Line with the options you have selected. You can edit here by your own. After editing the command-line, it will be stored in ThUGL.ini. If you wanna play it again, you don't have to configure it again, just check the "Run Sin with custom-Command Line" checkbox and the last edited Command-Line will start. (Use this only if you are an expert) !
Run Sin with custom-Command Line: When you check this, the last saved Command-Line will be played.
Game-Configuration: Here you are able to configure all the Game-settings you want... (See below).
Save Settings: Saves Gametype, Level, Timelimit, Fraglimit, Maxclients and Skill-Settings.
Load Settings: Loads Gametype, Level, Timelimit, Fraglimit, Maxclients and Skill-Settings you have saved before.
Launch Game as dedicated Server: This will Launch the Game in Server-Mode only. If you deselect it, the Game will start in listen-server-mode.
Let's play...: Starts playing the Game.
Configuration-Menu (Back to top)
General-Settings: Here you can select all the Options you want to start the Game with. (some options are disabled in multiplayer-mode to keep the command-line below 256 characters, because windows can't handle so big command-lines).
Skip Level-Settings and go directly to main-menu: Goes first, before the Game starts to the Main Sin-Menu
Always run: The Name say's it all...
Free Look: Enables Mouse up and down movement...
Invert Mouse: Inverts Mouse up and down-movement.
Mouse-Filter: Enables the Sin Mouse-Filters (Read Sin documentation for more information).
Cross-Hair: Choose you type of Crosshair you wanna use.
Dialog-System: Choose the Dialog-System you wanna use in singleplayer-mode
Configuration selection: Starts playing Sin with a Configuration-file of your choice.
Player-Selection: (Back to top)
Start with player: Starts Sin with the player of your choice.
Add Player: Adds a new player to the menu and creates a new directory for it.
Delete Player: Removes player from the Selection-menu and moves the files used by the player to trash.
Multiplayer-Configuration: (Back to top)
Set your Hostname: Set the Name of the Server (Visible for Clients when they want to join the Game).
Allow Downloads of levels and Skins: Allows the clients to automatically download the levels and Skins, if they didn't have them on their HD
Disable IPX: Disables IPX-Network and uses only TCP/IP
Allow Cheats: Allows cheating in multiplayer Games
No Exit: Disables the Exit. Level now switches only if timelimit or fraglimit hits.
No Monsters: Here you can enable and disable Monsters in Maps for both Gametypes.
Level Configuration: (Back to top)
Here you can select the maps you wanna cycle through in Deathmatch-Mode. There exists different Version of Sin (Demo-Version, OEM-Version etc...) Some of them have PAK-files and some have the maps in maps-Directory. So you are able to switch between the directorys where the maps are stored. Note: Don't select more than 10 levels at a time, to keep the command-line below 256 characters. If sin crashes on Game-start, the Line is too big for windows, and sin receives an incomplete command-line.
Custom Commands: (Back to top)
Here you can insert custom commands, which will send to SIN on Game-start. e.g. If you have downloaded a custom-mod for Capture the flag, you can insert the commands used by it here. All commands are stored in a file, so that they nevel will be lost. You must also be select if the command you have insert is on beginning or end of the line... e.g.: "+set game" commands must be placed on beginning of the command-line, some other (not much) must be placed at the end. I know that Sin can handle coop-games... bad, but it can.... If you wanna play coop just insert "+set skill 3 +set game coop" as custom-command, select remove "+set deathmatch" from the command line and you are able to play coop-mode ! Remove "+set deathmach" will also possible for some other Gametypes...
Note: If you want to play with custom-commands Gametype MUST always be DEATHMATCH !!!
General Information: (Back to top)
If you want to play UWar, just unzip it from the Plugin-Directory into your Unreal-Directory.
