NAME
wlogin - make windows look like login terminals
SYNOPSIS
wlogin
DESCRIPTION
wlogin(1)
runs
login(1),
waits for the login shell to terminate,
and updates the utmp and wtmp files accordingly.
This allows the use of windows, such as those produced by
MGR
to be used as fake login terminals.
There are two ways to start
wlogin(1).
The first is to set the envionment variable
SHELL
to `wlogin' before the window manager is invoked; this means that any window
which is started will be a terminal window.
The other is to run
wlogin(1)
from the normal shell in the window (often with the use of the
exec
command built into most shells).
FILES
- /etc/utmp
-
List of logged on users.
- /var/adm/wtmp
-
Login records.
