Viewing an image
When you start the Picture Package Viewer, the thumbnails
of the images stored in the selected image folder are listed in the main window.
From the thumbnails list, you can select a still image and display it in a
single-image high-resolution viewer window, where you can enlarge, reduce,
and print it. When you select a movie, you can play it back in the viewer
window.
The parts and controls of the main window are illustrated below.

Image folder pane |
Displays folders containing
images.
Images transferred from a Cyber-shot or Handycam camera are grouped
and saved in an image folder labeled with the date of transfer. Folders
are then grouped and placed by date under a year folder. By clicking
on the year
folder, you can view the folders contained in the year group.
To display images stored in a "Memory Stick," microdrive,
or compact flash card, click [Memory device].
You can add a folder on your PC or edit the date and comments labeling
that folder.

Image folder selection
drop-down list box |
From the drop-down list box,
you can select the year and month of an image folder whose contents
you want to view. Among the image folders labeled with the selected
year and month, the folder with the latest date is selected. The images
contained in the selected folder are displayed on the thumbnails list. |

Image description |
Displays the description of
the image selected in the thumbnails list.
If the image was transferred or created with Picture Package, the date
of transfer or creation is displayed. If the image was added from the
PC hard disk, the location of the file is displayed. |

Thumbnails list |
Allows you to view thumbnails
(miniature images) of the still images and movies contained in the selected
folder. |

Page numbers |
Displays the number of the
current page whose images are currently displayed in the thumbnails
list and the total number of pages (current page/total pages). If multiple
pages exist, you can click the scroll (Next page/Previous page) buttons
to display the previous or next pages. |

Movie thumbnail |
Represents a motion picture
such as an MPEG (MPEG-1 or VideoCD) file or a DV-AVI
file. The image starting the movie is displayed as thumbnail. |

Selected image |
The image being selected is
displayed with a frame. |

Still image thumbnail |
Represents a still image such
as a JPEG (Exif) file or TIFF (non-compressed) file. When a JPEG, GIF
or TIFF (non-compressed) file containing these Exif data is selected,
the rotation buttons appear. With the buttons, you can rotate the image
and save the rotated image.
You can also click an image with the right mouse button and display
its information. |

In the folder pane in the main window, select
the image folder or [Memory device] whose images you want to display
in the thumbnails list.
The selected folder is highlighted.
The images in the selected folder are displayed as thumbnails.

On the thumbnails list, double-click an image
that you want to display in a single-image viewer window.
The selected image is displayed in the single-image
high-resolution viewer window.
Note
You can display only a single viewer window at a time.

Click the close button.
The still image or movie viewer window is closed and the main window reappears.

Using the still image viewer window
The parts and controls of the still image viewer window are illustrated below.

Scroll (Next/Back) buttons |
Display the previous or next
still image displayed in the thumbnails (main) window. |

Print button |
Displays the print window that
allows you to print the previewed image. |

Zoom in/out buttons |
Each time you click ,
the previewed image is enlarged. Each time you click ,
the previewed image is reduced in size. The enlargement and reduction
information for the still image will not be saved. |

Rotate buttons |
These buttons appear only when
the previewed image contains the Exif information.
Each time you click
(Rotate left), the previewed image rotates 90-degrees counterclockwise.
Each time you click
(Rotate right), the previewed image rotates 90-degrees clockwise. Rotation
information can be saved. |

Exif information button |
This button appears only when
the previewed image is a JPEG, GIF, or TIFF (non-compressed) file containing
Exif information. To view the image information, click this button. |
In the still image viewer window, click

(Print).
The print window is displayed, allowing you to specify the number of copies,
and the type of print paper, and print the previewed image.
Using the movie viewer window
The parts and controls of the movie viewer window are illustrated below.

Scroll (Next/Back) buttons |
Display the previous or next
movie displayed in the thumbnails list of the main window. |

Stop button |
Stops playback and goes back
to the beginning of a movie. |

Play button |
Starts playback of a movie. |

Pause button |
Pauses playback at the current
position. When
(Play) is clicked, playback resumes from the current position |

Playback slider |
The length of the slider represents the length of the entire movie.
The on the
slider shows the current playback position.

Adding, editing, and searching a folder
You can add, edit or search a folder in the
folder pane.
Adding a hard disk folder
Click [Browse] in the folder pane to open the [Browse Folders]
window. Select a folder containing the types of images that Picture Package
Viewer supports. The selected folder is temporarily added to the folder pane
and the images contained in it are displayed in the thumbnails list.
Note
Once you exit the Picture Package Viewer, the hard disk folder
addition information is cleared.
Editing the date and comments for a folder
You can edit the date and comments for a folder in the folder
pane. Click on an image folder with the right mouse button to display the
window used to edit a folder.
To change the date of a folder, select the desired date from the [Date] drop-down
list box. The folder moves to a new position based on the revised date. The
date information of the images contained in the folder are also revised.
The comments in the [Comment] text box are displayed as a folder title on
the folder pane. You can input information on the content of the images as
a comment, for example, so that you can easily locate the folder later.
Searching a folder
From the
folder selection drop-down
list, select the year and month of the folder that you want to display.
The folder with the latest date among the selected year and month will be
highlighted in the folder pane and the images contained in it are displayed
in the thumbnails list.
