Kerning is the process of reducing the spacing between certain pairs of letters to improve their appearance. Most fonts include information that automatically reduces the amount of space between certain letter pairs, such as TA or VA. By default, Flash uses a font's kerning information when displaying type, but you may want to turn it off at smaller point sizes.
Letter spacing inserts a uniform amount of space between characters. Use letter spacing to adjust the spacing of selected characters or entire blocks of type.
To disable automatic kerning:
1 | Select the characters you want to change as described in Selecting text. |
2 | Choose Modify > Font. |
3 | Deselect Kerning. |
